Bicycle Rental Behind the Beach

Next to the supermarket on the campsite you'll find bicycle rental ‘Behind the Beach’. You can rent all kinds of bikes here, including electric ones. Prices can be found on Behind the Beach's website. They also offer bike repairs. Bicycles can be rented throughout the whole season. Please check here for the latest opening times.

Disabled washrooms / family shower room / baby room

Yes! Every washroom building has a disabled washroom, a family shower room and a baby room. You do need an access code for each however. You can get the code with your booking number from Reception.

Do I need to register for the recreation activities?

Most activities do not require registration. When we do ask for registration for a (free or paid for) activity this will be clearly indicated on the recreation programme. Depending on the activity you can enrol yourself and/or your children at Reception or with the Recreation Team.

Is there a restaurant?

Yes, we have an onsite restaurant. It's called "Gestrand", and you'll find it in the middle of the campsite, a 10-minute walk from the beach. Restaurant Gestrand is open for everyone! You're just as welcome if you're not staying on the campsite, and can drive your car very close to the entrance of the restaurant, which makes it easy for guests who use a wheelchair. The restaurant has a disabled toilet too. There are several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu; just let us know your preferences when you book! You can park your car in the car park behind the barriers of Camping De Lakens, provided there is availability. Reception has a day parking pass, and an evening parking pass for those who arrive after 18:00. If you spend €75 or more at Gestrand we pick up your parking costs and subtract them from your bill. Hungry yet? Please check the up to date opening times on the website under "Gestrand opening times". You can eat in, or take out.

On which days is the Recreation Team at the campsite?

The Recreation Team will be present at Easter, in the May holidays, the Ascension and Whitsun weekends, all weekends in June and during the whole months of July and August, during the weekends in September and during the autumn half term the Recreation Team will be present. Children can go to the Zep Zone (below the restaurant) for all kinds of cool activities. Take a look at the website to see what fun is in store during your stay.

What is the Pop-up Store?

The Pop-up store is a shop on the campsite that gives people the opportunity to trial offering their products. You'll find it next to the supermarket and the bike rental, behind the large playground. It's a lovely light structure with extensive decking outside.

In order to avoid a product overlap with our other shopkeepers, Camping De Lakens allows products in the following categories only: clothing, jewellery, personal care, interior and lifestyle. You can rent the Pop-up store when you're staying on the campsite, but also when you're not at Camping De Lakens. The store can be hired for a midweek, a weekend or a whole week. The store can be open from 9:00 to 19:00. Please contact us by e-mail if you're interested in booking the Pop-up store.

What is the minimum age for a child to take part in an activity?

All children are very welcome, but those 3 and older will get the most benefit! Most children up to 14 love the programme for its challenging fun. Older children often spend their time on the beach with their families or independently.

Where can children play on the campsite?

By the restaurant is a large outdoor playground. Children can entertain themselves with water, climbing in the watchtower, zooming down the zip wire and more. From the restaurant you have a good view of the playground. Underneath the restaurant is a play area too, used by the Recreation Team during the season. There are small playgrounds near every washroom building, and near the Playtown camping area there is another large playground. You can find all of these on the campsite map.

Where do I find the washrooms?

On the map of our campsite you can see icons with the letter B. B means washroom. Washrooms have showers and toilets. The washrooms are heated and have a disabled room, family shower and a baby changing room too. Please ask for the entry code at Reception. All washrooms are open 24/7.
