Zuid Kennemerland National Park
Zuid Kennemerland National Park
The campsite is situated in the middle of this beautiful park. Walking and bike routes through the National Park start directly from the campsite.
The park is home to many animals, such as foxes, rabbits, deer, roe deer, Highland cattle, Konik horses and, opposite the campsite, an area with European bison. There are many different birds too, including sea eagles. Reception can give you tips and point out highlights in the park, and has walking- and cycling route descriptions for sale. If you like a challenge and wish to explore without a map, then keep an eye on the low signposts for IJmuiden, Haarlem, Overveen or Bloemendaal.
Dunes and bunker walks
Combine a beautiful nature walk with an exciting voyage of discovery along the remaining bunkers from the German army's Atlantic Wall, the 2,600 km-long line of defence that German occupiers hoped would protect them against seaborne assault. The dunes of Zandvoort are littered with these half-submerged concrete giants, and expert guides lead regular tours through the bunkers and dunes but the going can get tough, so remember to wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes!
