Since Formula 1 is taking place at the Zandvoort Circuit, Camping de Lakens has been colored orange during the race weekend. 2026 will be the last time Formula 1 will be held in the Netherlands.

Formula 1 Race Weekend

Wherever you look at the campsite during the race weekend, you'll see orange flags hanging from caravans to cheer on Max. Groups of friends gather, Dutch sing-alongs fill the air, and there's plenty of fun and camaraderie.

A group of friends from Oudewater has been camping during the Formula 1 weekend for years. They bring their own truck with a stage, a beer tap, and party tents, and they make it a fun party. Others are also welcome to join them for a beer.

After the race, the campers return from Zandvoort ecstatic and brimming with excitement at how incredibly special it is that such an international spectacle takes place in this small fishing-village by the sea.

Camping de Lakens is often a friendly and peaceful place. For three weekends a year (Luminosity Festival, Formula 1, and Surfana Festival), there's a completely different vibe, and the campsite takes on a festive atmosphere.

Being there is an experience

Of course, you can watch the free practice, qualifying, or the race itself on TV, but it's a completely different experience to be there yourself, to feel the joy of the race fans, to see the 300 km/h speed with your own eyes, and to hear the engines roar.
